How do you get the editor controls (bold, italic, underline, quote, anything else I would want like embed hyperlink, etc) into creating a topic or replying to a post.  your forum here has b, i and u but mine has not of those by default and I want at least those, and really want to have a much more robust editor in place.

    what am I missing?

You will need to change the input editor. There is more information about this in the admin documentation: http://www.activemodules.com/active...mentation/

You will need to go to Control Panel > Forums > {Name of forum or group} > Features > HTML Input enabled > [...] > Editor and change it to Active Editor or DNN Default editor

thank you, that helped. However, I don't see in there a clear list of what functions I can add. I Bold, Italic, underline, Quote. I see here you have code.

What are other items I can enter into the text field in the control panel to show up on the buttons? Stuff like embed link, etc.? Is there a list of other things I can add?

If you want a lot of functionality, I would suggest using the "Default DNN Editor", as it should be a full WYSIWYG editor. (FCKEditor or Rad Editor)

The quote and code buttons on the quick reply should be displayed by default on your site.

Where is the Default DNN Editor setting located?

so I tried this, but it gives the user access to my image file structure.  They can click the manage images or manage flash, etc.

Is there some medium between all that control and the minimal control of the active setting?

Or is there a command so hyperlink is an option in the active editor?

I want to make it easy for my users to embed an image from another site via hyperlink or to embed a link in text without using html code directly.  Any ideas?

While I'll try that, I'm guessing it won't affect my core problem (not allowing members to click the image icon and see my file structure) as it would still be the universal site editor.

What I'm really looking for is a list of the different command options I can add to the top bar in the active editor mode.

The default is Bold, Italic and Underline.  Quote is added easily.

Some of your pages have others, like this with different lists:  http://www.activemodules.com/Commun...fault.aspx

But I don't know the term to put in the active editor selection box to make bulleted lists, numbered lists, hyperlinks, etc appear.  If there is a list of those items, that would allow me to do what I wanted without putting in such an overly complex editor for my end users of the forum.

The toolbar options for the Active Editor are as follows:

    ParagraphMenu, FontFacesMenu, FontSizesMenu, FontForeColorsMenu,
FontForeColorPicker, FontBackColorsMenu, FontBackColorPicker, Bold, Italic, Underline,
Strikethrough, Superscript, Subscript, InsertImageFromGallery, CreateLink, Unlink,
RemoveFormat, JustifyLeft, JustifyRight, JustifyCenter, JustifyFull, BulletedList,
NumberedList, Indent, Outdent, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Undo, Redo, Print, Save,
ieSpellCheck, StyleMenu, SymbolsMenu, InsertHtmlMenu, InsertRule, InsertDate,
InsertTime, WordClean, InsertImage, InsertTable, EditTable, InsertTableRowBefore,
     InsertTableRowAfter, DeleteTableRow, InsertTableColumnBefore, InsertTableColumnAfter,
     DeleteTableColumn, InsertForm, InsertForm, InsertTextBox, InsertTextArea,
     InsertRadioButton, InsertCheckBox, InsertDropDownList, InsertButton, InsertDiv,
     InsertImageFromGallery, Preview, SelectAll, EditStyle

These are not all supported, and some may or may not function correctly in the context of Active Forums.
