    • Active Forums Version: 4.3.5
    • DotNetNuke Version: 5.6.2
Since upgrading from AF 4.1 to 4.3.5, my users are no longer gettig subcription emails.  I have followed all the suggestions in the FAQ and the possible fixes offered in these forums but nothing seems to have solved this issue.

My forum is for a small sports club and members have become very used to getting an email about posts in the forum rather than having to check the web site regularly.

From looking at the scheduler, there are two items from AF
    Active.Modules.Forums.MC.MailConnectorScheduler, ACTIVE.MODULES.FORUMS.40
    and
    Active.Modules.Forums.Queue.Scheduler,Active.Modules.Forums.40

both are simply showing as "overdue", neither shows any "dependencies".  I've tried turing off everything else in the scheduler and running the two items on their own or together.  All to no avail.

All permissions for subcribe and view for the forums have been checked.

I'm an amateur that can install and configure modules but I don't do SQL!

Can any one on here help?

    Many thanks
    Gavin

Did you upgrade from Active Forums 4.1 Enterprise to Active Forums 4.3 Express?

Can you login as a test user and confirm that the user is still subscribed to the forum? At one point I was un-subscribed from the forums here on activemodules.com. It only ever happened once, and I am not sure what caused it.

To check a users subscription status, go to My Profile (or My Settings) in the forums toolbar, then click the Forum Tracking tab. Each forum should have a little white envelope icon, and it will display a green check mark if the user is subscribed. You can click the icon to toggle the subscription status.

Tried your suggestion Ben.  No change I'm afraid.  Green ticks on white envelopes present and correct.

I am not aware of any issues with sending notifications in 4.3.5 express.

Can you try a few things:

    1. Reinstall the module, as a repair installation. Check for errors in the installation log.
    2. Check the Admin > event viewer for any red errors regarding Active Forums.
    3. Check the mail server for any error messages.

    Thanks for helping Ben

    1. Reinstall the module, as a repair installation. Check for errors in the installation log.
Done.  Install ran successfully. No errors.

    2. Check the Admin > event viewer for any red errors regarding Active Forums.

Well finally I've got to the bottom of this.  By phoning round various more computer literate users and creating a fresh test account I got some clues.

The issue was partly related to some of the users not having checked the subscribe box!  Issue one solved

Why were superusers not getting mail?  The host account is not in a security role that appears in the security roles in AF.  Get the rest of the superusers to log in using ordinary user credtentials, set up their subscriptions, problem solved they get mail again!  Slap superusers for using host account regularly for posting
