17 Mar 2010 10:31 PM
Please make sure to backup your database before installing any new modules or upgrade packages.

Active Forums 4.2 includes a few minor database updates that perform best when executed from the Active Forums Control Panel.  You must go immediately to the Active Forums Control Panel after you have successfully uploaded the installation zip file.  Please follow the steps below for best results:

    1. Backup your DotNetNuke website and database.  This will provide you with the best course of action to correct any issues that may occur during the installation process.

    2. Sign in to your site using your host or super user account.

    3. Select the Module Definitions page from the Host Menu.

    4. Select "Install New Module" from the module actions menu.

    5. Click the "Browse" button and select the Active Forums installation package you downloaded.

    6. Click "Install New Module" if you are running DotNetNuke 4.x.  If you are running DotNetNuke 5.x you will need to click "Next" multiple times to proceed through the installation wizard.

    7. IMPORTANT: Please report any errors that you receive during the installation process.  You may create a help desk ticket or create a topic in the community support forums. In order for us to help you as quickly as possible we will need the full details of the installation error.

    8. After the installation completes successfully, you should now go directly to the Active Forums Control Panel.

    9. Click the button that is displayed in the control panel and wait for the upgrade process to complete.  This process can take up to 10 minutes depending on the content of your forums.  The Control Panel Dashboard will be displayed once the upgrade process is complete.

    10. Finally, select the Host Settings page from the Host Menu and click "Restart Application" from the bottom of the page.  This will make sure all data and settings have been updated.
