Active Forums Knowledge Base Views

    Below are the necessary steps as well as the templates needed to create a knowledge base view using Active Forums.

    Creating the Templates
    1. Download the attached template files.
    2. Open the Templates section in the Active Forums Control Panel.
    3. Click the Add Template link button in the upper left corner.
    4. Enter "KB-TopicsView" in the text box for Title and Subject.
    5. Select "TopicsView" from the drop down box for Type.
    6. Copy the contents of KB-TopicsView.txt into the text box for HTML.
    7. Click Save.
    8. Click the Add Template link button in the upper left corner.
    9. Enter "KB-TopicView" in the text box for Title and Subject.
    10. Select "TopicView" from the drop down box for Type.
    11. Copy the contents of KB-TopicView.txt into the box for HTML.
    12. Click Save.
    Configuring the Forum
    1. Create a new forum or edit open an existing forum in the forum editor of the Active Forums Control Panel.
    2. Select "KB-TopicsView" for the Topics Display Template.
    3. Select "KB-TopicView" for the Topic Display Template.
    4. Click the Security Tab.
    5. Enable Tag, Categorize and Priority for the roles that will be creating topics.
    6. Click Save.
    Creating Categories
    1. Open the Categories section of the Active Forums Control Panel.
    2. Enter the name of your first Category in the Category Name text box.
    3. Select the forum where this Category will be used.  
    4. Click the Save Button to add the category.
    NOTE: Simply click the large categories button at the top of the Control Panel to create a new category.

    Creating Content
    1. Exit the Active Forums Control Panel.
    2. Click on the forum that has been assigned the new templates.
    3. Click the Add New Topic button.
    4. Enter a Subject.
    5. Summary is optional.
    6. Enter the main body for the topic.
    7. Expand the Tags section to enter any keywords that may apply to this topic.  Note: Separate each word with a comma.
    8. Expand the Categories section to selected the categories that should be assigned to this topic.
    9. Click Save.
