I wanted to know when threaded views will be incorporated in Active Forums?
The last email I received from Will Morgenweck (Dec 8, 2010) he stated:
"We actually added support for threaded replies to our data model already. The next step will be to create the necessary UI elements. We have been putting this off for a while. I'll add it to our feature list for 4.4 which is scheduled for next month."
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I have a large customer that needs this option and without it, it's a deal breaker.

Many thanks in advance.

Since the time when he sent that email, we have undergone some changes, and have been very busy. However, I am sure that threaded view is still on the development roadmap. At this time I can not give you an exact date or even version number though. |

Hi Ben, I can understand that things are very busy for you folks right now. But this requested feature (threaded views) has been discussed many many times before. In fact it was first started in June 2007. http://www.activemodules.com/active...est/#19339 We're not unreasonable customers and you know we're very patient But perhaps this feature can be placed at the top of the development priority queue? If you require software development $$$, then send me an email. Let's start the discussion Rolly |

I am really not the best person to talk to about this as I am not exactly sure what determines new feature priority. Since that topic was created in 2007 we have added many features, and I can only assume they were more technically feasible and/or beneficial to more people than threaded view. We get tons of feature requests and we have a finite amount of development time. Having said that, customer feedback like this is very beneficial to the development process, as it lets us know that certain features are heavily desired. I do thank you for being reasonable and patient, as well. |

Thanks for the quick reply Ben Like I said... If you require software development $$$ to start work on this feature, then send me an email or give me the email of the contact person that can make this decision. I've paid DNN developers to customize and/or add critical features to their DNN modules. Let's start the discussion Rolly |

Rolly,
I hope you can make this happen. I have been asking for this since 2007. I have been promised/assured about this feature various times and based on that assurance I have upgraded Active Forum 3-4 times.
I could probably get my money back from Small Claims court but I have liked and appreciated lots of other features that came with the upgrade.
Couple of months ago we saw threaded view in the blog section and then it disappeared. So Active Forum has that feature but don't know how to "activate" it.
I have given up but I hope you can make this happen.
Good luck!

I am using the latest AS/AF/DNN available.
Thanks. |

Don’t give up yet Frozen
We just need other customers (like you and I) to post in this thread and tell their story why the threaded views feature is required in the next release of the product. But if they don’t want to tell their story, then just reply back to this post with “I want the Threaded Views feature”. Make your voice heard!
In my case, I have a customer has many long discussions on very technical subjects that it makes it next to impossible to follow who replied to which post. This is where a threaded view would eliminate this problem. I know that I’m not alone with this.
So if what Will said to me is correct, it will not be difficult to implement the feature. Besides, if there are so many current ActiveModules customers that want this feature, then there has to be merit in our request.
I know I’ve told Will on a couple of occasions that I WILL BE upgrading from my Active Forums express edition to Active Social enterprise edition once the threaded views feature is finally implemented.
In fact, right now I would even be willing to pay for the license in advance on condition that the feature is included in the next release.
We just need to start the discussion

I do not think it will happen immediately because AF is going open source. I have threads that have 1000-2000 replies sometimes. Nobody know who is talking to whom or who is responding to whom. I have asked my members to quote the topic they are replying to but then the member has to go through each message to see whether someone commented on his reply. If there is a threaded view. It becomes so easy to see all the replies and all the response to each replies. Anyway. Good luck. I will keep my fingers crossed. |

Ben,
Who is the best person to talk to about implementing threaded views? I don't want to keep harassing you, but this is a VERY important feature for my client.
So can you please forward my email address (in my profile) to the right person. I would like to get the ball rolling on this. Many thanks in advance

To Ben or Will Can somebody please tell us where we stand on this on-going request to get Threaded Views incorporated into the product? Surely things must have settled down by now. Rolly |

Although only three more months have passed, then I would love to hear if there are any news about this issue, as it's something I really would love to see. /Erik |

LOL. In that case I should say; Although only 4 years have passed, I would love to hear if there is any news on this issue. |

This has become a real hot button with my clients. Has anyone found any other modules which will handle a threaded view?
