I have made some good progress customizing AS for my site. I have modified the members page by creating a new profile template. However, I still have the following issues and questions, and would really appreciate any suggestions you can offer:

    1) How do I take out the icons on the members page under each person's name that says "offline, email, send message and add contact"? I think the page would look more professional with just the words, and no icons. What specifically do I need to change?

    2) How can I verify users manually? I went into user roles in DNN and could not find a way to verify the emails by hand.

    3) Can I add content to a user's profile by going into the database or some other way? Many people signed up months ago and did not add any content. I can add rss feeds and other energy related content, because we are all in the energy industry. It looks barron the way it is.

    4) How can I edit the registration pages? I want to put in notes to remind people to complete 100% of the info so they will have quality profiles.

    5) What are vanity URL's?

    6) Are feeds just simple RSS feeds?

    7) What other modules can be integrated with AS?

    8) How do I edit the email that welcomes people to the web site?

    9) How do I create a landing page that will welcome new people after they have both registered and verified the email? How do I make sure it loads after the email verification?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Steve:

    1. find the "tokens.config" file which is in Desktopmodules/ActiveSocial/Config/, make your own copy, customize, and away you go. It's calling a particular class "icon friends, icon msg, etc."

    2. If you're using the standard DNN registration, you can set it to manually approve. I'm quite sure you can do the same thing if using the Active Social registration process.

    3. You can create custom profile properties through DNN, and enable their view there, and through the AS control panel. I don't know how to auto fill everyone's profile properties. You probably could using a SQL Script.

    4. Search the forums for customization the registration page. It's been published.

    5. Vanity URLs replace standard dnn urls that include tabid, userid, etc. Search the PDF's on doing this. It's very detailed and has specific instructions.

    6. I think so.

    7. Many. A few vendors off the top of my head include (Ventrian, Bizmodules, Sunblognuke)

    8. goto the control panel in AS, and find the templates for emails.. Edit from there.

    9. I haven't done this using the AS registration process, so I'm not sure off the top of my head. I'm using Datasprings Dynamic Registration, which makes these issues obsolete.

Steve, most of your questions can be answered by reading the documentation. Take a look at the knowledge base. It's packed full of info.

    Hope this helped.
