When showing the members with display name, the layout can get very crazy because of the length of characters some members have can be long. Is there a way to limit the number of characters to display for [AS:PROFILE:DISPLAYNAME]?

One easy fix for this is your registration module. Use some code that limits characters to prevent future abuse. There are tutorials all over the web. I'm actually using Dynamic Registration which easily enables me to specify such criteria. I never thought of this issue.. I'll have to look at the profile section of AS myself as well to make sure I don't have future problems.
