I have a server that is set to (UTC -600CST), the server time is set to UTC -600 in the Active Forums control panel, and the user's timezone is set the (UTC-500 EST). The problem is that under member information at 5:24PMEST, I see 4:24PM as last login, and I post and it says 10:24PM. Please help me with this. The time needs to match the users time zone as long as my control panel timezone matches the server's timezone. |

Posted By Will M on 15 Jan 2009 06:26 PM Change the timezone in Active Forums to 0 Still doesnt fully solve. At zero it goes to server time which does not match user time necessarily. If I move it to -100 than it posts right until a user clicks reply then the previous post shows the server time. I am ok with this as a workaround, but feel that this should work properly regardless of the server's timezone. Is this a workaround while this issue is resolved or is this the plan for a final solution? |

The timezone setting does not have to match the server. It is there for you to help display the time to meet your site needs. For example, lets say I have my site hosted on the west coast (-8) but my site is focused towards an audience on the east coast (-5). I would set Active Forums to -8 and my portal time zone to - 5. If my server was on the east coast I would set active forums to 0 so that no time offset is calculated. It's not a workaround and it works as intended when you have the timezones set properly.

Can we have an option to use the user's timezone setting? I would much prefer this to seeing the server timezone. In our case, our server is in Dallas and we are in australia, 14 hrs or so difference in timezone and seeing yesterday's dates on posts is quite irritating.

It does, as long as the user has set the time zone in their DNN profile. |

I have my server set to UTC -6, DNN set to UTC-6 and my profile set to UTC+10 - but the date/times I'm seeing are the server date times, not my local ones. Am I missing something? |

Change the Time Offset in the Active Forums Control Panel until you get the desired result. That's why it's there. It may not necessarily need to match your server. In some cases you should set it to 0. |

I don't see any time offset setting, just "Server Time Zone" under Date & Time Settings. Changing that still makes no difference, posts I made today on our forums still show the server's date & time. I would expect that dates are stored in the server local time zone and then offset according to the users timezone setting when displayed?

Yes, that's how it has worked since day one. Have you tried changing the timezone in the Active Forums control panel to 0? |

Even on your forums, I'm still seeing 10pm 19th of Jan, it's 2pm on the 20th here and my dnn profile on your site is set to UTC+10

Hello,
Am having time stamping issues (the time I'm seeing is + 6 hours compared to what it should be-Central Time) with Active Forums since PowerDnn upgraded from DNN 05.06.03 to 06.01.03. I have AF Ver. 04.03.04.
I've done the following:
My profile is set at (GMT-06.00) Central Time (US & Canada).
Admin>Site Settings>Advanced Settings>Security Settings>Site Time Zone is set at (GMT-0) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin .....
I tried changing the Site Time Zone to (GMT-06.00) and no change was noted even after 8 hours being down.
Could there be a compatibility issue between DNN and AF?
I asked PowerDnn to look into it and they said:
Thanks for your help.

Hello Gary, There is a known issue with DNN 6.1.3 that was resolved in AF 4.3.8. You should be able to access the file if you purchased from snowcovered. If you purchased here on activemodules.com please send me a private message by clicking the envelope under my name to the left. |
