    Hi

We use Active Forum as a tool in our working groups. Our working groups are separated by security roles. The problem we are having is that people forget to subscribe to the forums so they don't get email notifications when a discussion is started. The people using the forums for that specific working groups will NEED to be notified because they don't get to the working groups unless there's a reason to.

What we would like to see happen is to configure the forum to AUTOMATICALLY subscribe everyone in a security role for the forum. That way if a person is in the working group, he is automatically involved in the discussion. He may choose to unsubscribe later (we don't care if he does), but it is important he is automatically subscribed if he is.

Obviously, we use different forums instances for different working groups so that subscribe only impacts the forum that is associated with the working group (which is associated with a security role).

Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks.

Active Forums Enterprise will allow you to setup auto subscriptions per role and forum. Sounds like this would do what you need.

Will, is that really true? I know you can setup auto subscriptions, but does that allow the individual users to unsubscribe later if they wish?

We would really like this feature as well, I've been looking at doing a mass subscription via the database but if Active Forums supported this it would be great.

I just upgraded to the enterprise version specifically for the purpose of having automatic notification to the security role based on the forum. I assume that the security role is flagged in the Forum>Detail>Security in the control panel? I noticed that it is not showing me all the security roles on the portal. Only those security roles which was available during the install. Any security role added after the install does not appear on this list. How do I fix this? Thanks.

The security is only part of the setup.  You still need to configure Auto Subscriptions.
