With the upcoming release of the Active Forums knowledgebase views (4.3/4.5) it implies that each post could be quite lengthy and detailed as oppose to the normal kind of forum post.

The ability to integrate with Windows Live Writer via the MetaWebLog api would be a great addition and would encourage users to use Active Forums as an article repository.

This capability could either be provided by Active Forums itself or via a module such as MetaPost which provides custom integration for a number of modules including the DNN forum.

    +1.

We use MetaPost from ITCrossing to write content for Text/HTML and Ventrian News Articles. In fact, we have our customers write their own articles, layout photos, etc without ever logging into the admin console. Makes customers happy (one step publishing) and reduced support.

I would love to see support within AF.

cMetapost is great! Does anyone know if the project is still active? It looks like ITCrossing merged with someone else and I have not seen recent MetaPost updates.

MP would energize AF usage and make it more attractive to new customers

I'm also wondering if MetaPost is still active. But we have DigMeta as well. Both need to be updated so that they have Really Simple Discovery (RSD).

This is a good addition not only so that we can use WLW but it would enable us to auto-post from Flickr, Posterous, etc.

There has not been a major update on MetaPost in a while. The latest version seems to work fine with NA HTML and the Blog Module....they also have an open provider model....but I'd like to see something native to AF

    Hi Larry,

I am using it, like many others, with NA (and the FAQs) module. I noticed on their forum that an upgrade has been issued but not been posted to snowcovered. I emailed to Don and he promptly forwarded the 1.3.7 release to me by email. You could do the same, if your subscription is still valid

I have received support from Don W. from Metapost recently so their support is still active at the very least.

Could be something I need to work on Will about... native MetaPost support for AF based blogs.

Add another "me too" to the list. We are moving toward AF with custom templates for more and more of our content. This allows us to reduce the number of interfaces and settings for which we have to train our users and provides a consistent interface for our admins. Having Metaweblog API access to AF would make content management a lot more powerful for us.

I am not sure that MetaPost is an active project. Does anyone out there know the status?

I echo Ray's comments, but we sure need a metapost/live writer type tool to simplify and "empower" rich blog and forum posts!

I see recent posts on their forum but snowcovered has 1.3.5 from 10/2009 as the latest version. I do know that he's at 1.3.7 now for DNN 5.5. compatibility. I've emailed him to see what's going on with the project. They did have a core forum provider for metapost...and they exposed their provider model for developers to write additional connections. I would like to see if this is still a viable module.

PS the website is now here: http://dnn.oldtownit.com/products/m...s/metapost

I heard back from Don yesterday. Apparently they had some issues with email getting to them from their site and have corrected it. I also got their latest version 1.3.8 which resolves some bugs that have in their module on DNN 5.5+

I don't get the sense that they are very active on the product, but they are supporting it with releases and patches. Don also mentioned he would be happy to send me the SDK for his module which would allow me (or someone else) to write a provider for AF.

I honestly don't know if I have the time right now, but at least we know it's still possible through MetaPost.

I'll have to check it out. I never did receive the SDK from Don...I had volunteered to develop a provider for AF.

Would be nice to see this native in AF rather than relying on a 3rd party module. I've been scoping out blog modules lately and am undecided on AF, NA, digNuke. I'm well adept to NA and AF, not tried out digNuke, but intend to try out the demo since it already has built in Live Writer support.

Since the release of vanity url's in AF, I'm more keen to using it to reduce the need for other modules. Along with the fact of it soon to be open source.
    Cheers! Jeff
