I've modified the BlogsView to use as a replacement to my old home page announcements module. Since these will be relatively short posts and I don't want any replies to them, I'd just like to show the entire message.

I've edited the template so that it uses [BODY] instead of [BODY:xxx] and it seems to work fine. Is there anything I should be aware of as far as the differences between this tag and the one used in BlogView?

[BODY:xxx] will strip all html. [BODY] display the message exactly as it is stored.
