I've put together some forum rank images for my site and thought I would share with the community. Hopefully this will aid novice users such as myself in giving a good understanding to the AF forum rank system.

One thing I have found out when creating ranks is if you are using the points system, you will not want to place rank advancement too low. Thus the reason you see some of my values high. You will also notice I've placed unrealistic values for ranks such as Admin, and I've also left room in those areas to add for more ranks such as "support" or "designer" or "developer".

Remember the points system adds points for posting, correct answers, replies, etc. So set your rank advancements based on those values, not actual post count.

Notice that I have also added for "Group Admin" and "Group Moderator". These can be used in your group forums, and witheld from public forums to minimize confusion to your public forum users.

Below is a screenshot for what I've done for my site. Attached is the .gif images along with the source .psd file. Bear in mind, I am not good with layers, etc, so I did what worked for me, and there may have been a better way to create the source.

Nice...are you showing those in the PostInfo template and on the user's profile?

Also - do you artificially move an account to BANNED and above?

Sorry! I did forget to mention that original credits go to: http://www.vbteam.info/req-other/14...-sets.html

Yes, they show in the postinfo template with [AF:PROFILE:RANKDISPLAY]

    Also displays by default on:
-AS profile in the mini forum stats
    -AF under my settings tab

And of course, I forgot to mention:
BANNED along with the other custom ranks has to manually be placed for a user in their AF account settings under the Admin Settings tab by placing the points value you originally set for that specific rank.

Ben did a good writeup here: http://www.activemodules.com/Commun...fault.aspx
I've just expanded on it some.

    Cheers! Jeff

    Banned...

What happens if a user reaches "Banned" status? Is there a setting you set that, when reached, it automatically bans a user?

Banning a user has to be done manually. Same with adding the "banned" rank. You have to change the user's points on their profile.
