    Hello,

We are running AF 4.2.6 on our site. I noticed that I can post duplicate posts in the topic. Is there any setting in AF that bloacks users posting duplicate posts?

    Thanks,

    Kiran

Yes, go to settings and adjust the flood interval.

Thanks, flood interval says the number of second user must wait between posts isn't it ? SO how does it blocks users posting duplicate entries?

In most cases, duplicate topics are caused by the user clicking the submit button more than once. The flood interval prevents the duplicate from being created.

Will, I have mine set to 20 seconds per post, but I have been testing this issue for quite sometime.

Sometimes, a user can click submit 6-7 times, it will literally post that reply 5-6 times. I have tested in all 4 different browsers, and it does it in all.

Is there any other suggestion, or ways I can look at preventing duplicate posts? Its starting to piss me off, that we have to go back in and delete the dupes.

New users are the ones that end up causing all the issues. Once they see, they caused it, they typically learn over time, to click it once and wait. It may be caused with the speed it takes, once you click submit for it to actually post the comment. I will attempt to try and click submit 3 times on this reply on this thread. See what happens.

So exact same issue that I would of seen on my site, happened on yours. I just clicked submit 3 times, and it posted it 3 times.

Can you see if there is another method to prevent this?

Why not disable the button on the click event?

Are you using the standard reply editor, or the quick reply?

so thats how it happens... I have seen this on my site as well but I never figured it out. I believe you cannot delete the duplicate posts without removing all of them as well.

It happens on the quick reply submit button. If you select it multiple times, it doesnt pass the prevention flood interval.

Did anyone happen to find a fix for this? It only happens on the QUICK REPLY method. I ended up having to go into the code and add in:

Please dont create duplicate posts.. Only Select (SUBMIT) 1 time, and then wait.

Just checking if anyone has found a solution for this? If you just the QUICK REPLY and press it multiple times, it will create the reply twice. I will try it on AM right now hitting SUBMIT twice..

As you can see, I made a mistake and hit it 3 times, which in fact it posted it 3 times.

Can someone from Active Modules respond to this issue? As you can see this is a flaw with using the [QUICKREPLY] and selecting Submit too many times.

I went into the code and this is what I found for the script.

    function afQuickSubmit(){var hid=document.getElementById('hidReply1');hid.value='true';document.forms[0].submit();};

    --------------

Steven mentioned above with adding in some javascript to prevent the double click after the first one is initiated.

So where am I to add this is to the section above: ("onclick", "this.disabled='true';")

Why have I have never received any response from this discussion? Several bumps, and its like the support is no where to be found.

This forum used to be a place that people would share, and for one Will would respond to peoples questions. Ever since the migration to DNN Corp, this forum has just been dying..

Is there anyone else having this duplicate post issue, using the QUICK REPLY? Trying to do the flood interval doesnt work.

If you hit SUBMIT on the QUICK REPLY a few times, it will post it several times. That causes are admins/moderators to have to go in and delete users duplicate posts.
