Can someone tell me if version 4.0 includes a blog template? I own version 3.7 but am relaunching my website with a new blog and I'm wondering if I should switch my blog to ActiveForum. I'd be happy to pay the upgrade fee if I could get a fancy blog template with the upgrade. Are there any other sources of templates for ActiveForums (free or paid)? |

Hi Krista, The blog templates are included with Active Forums 4.x. They actually will only work with 4.0 or higher. Thanks, Will |

I don't see a blog template. I had upgraded to Express from the free version and wasn't seeing any new templates so I removed the packages (Forums were empty as it's not in production yet) and reinstalled. I still don't see any different templates. Where can I find the blog template? |

Will, on my install of Active Forums Express 04.01.07 on DNN 05.00.01, I can't seem to be able to "find" the built-in Blog "views" or templates. Let me clarify: 1. I can physically locate the .txt files in Resources > Config > Templates, both locally on my machine and on the DNN portal, called A) BlogList.txt B) BlogsView.txt C) BlogView.txt 2. When logged into DNN site as HOST, then heading into the AF Admin Control Panel, these do not show up in the the available list of options, and I am unsure how to add them in under Templates. Can you provide specific instructions for how to get these built-in templates working/installed. I've been reading the forums and I have read both the general Admin manual and the Advanced skinning manual, but I'm hard pressed to find detailed instructions on how to get these working. If I do get these working, I'm golden! :-) Can you help? |

Seems like the blog templates are missing from the default config file? Is this possibly the cause for them not being "there" upon a first installation? Here's the code from defaultsetup.config |

Chad, Take a close look at the thread that has been mentioned by Eric because the solution to your problem can be found over there.

Thanks guys... that thread produces a blank page for me, I've tried it twice. I finally figured it out last night after much reading. I appreciate the help! |

Hi...hate to sound dumb here but I can't find any instructions on this. I found the text files in DesktopModules/ActiveForums/Config/Templates. I copied the contents into the template, but the contents of the blog templates look like ASCX files, not HTML. So my forum now displays a bunch of tags and never evalutes the tags. Was I supposed to put these Blog.txt files into the controls folder as ASCX? How do I indicate that the .ascx files should be called? Also, the documentation says that an advanced template editing guide would be available for download. Where do I find this guide??? |
