RE: A Couple New Features in Active Forums 4.2.5.

RE: A Couple New Features in Active Forums 4.2.5.
@Mark It should still work with DNN 4.8.4. However, you should consider reviewing the list of security issues in older versions of DotNetNuke. @browe68 and @Frozen DNN The post topic has always been present in the page title. We will be pr ...

RE: A Couple New Features in Active Forums 4.2.5.
Thanks Will... A follow up - "While this still isn't our ultimate URL solution" - can you tell us what is? Will there be an option to make the Post Topic appear in the URL/Page Title or is this currently possible?

A Couple New Features in Active Forums 4.2.5.
We don't usually introduce new features in patch releases.  In this particular situation, I wanted to make sure all Active Forums 4.2 customers received the patch and didn't want to hold these new features for another release.   Most ...

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
I am just looking at the latest ActiveSocial site (1.3 I assume and I don't think this is going to be a problem anymore - it looks like it uses HREF anchors instead of querystring params (eg. http://www.activesocial.com/Members/Profile/tabid/57/asu ...

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
Another way to improve this problem will be the Canonical URL feature - Ifinity has a Canonical URL module which you can drop on any page and it works really well (when you have 500 pages!!). Ventrian took a different route and implemented it direct ...

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
I can say for sure that duplicate content is an issue. About 2 months ago, my StomperNet mentor saw almost all of his Google page 1 keywords drop off to about page 6 or worse in his eComm store. His site has been operating for several years and this ...

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
Hmm - yes, it's hard to say exactly what Google do and don't like - but the fact that duplicate pages show up in the SiteMaster tools imply that they don't encourage it. Duplicates are based on a number of factors - I would imagine the primary b ...

Personally I like separate tabs with unique url for each tabs. It is already there. Only thing I would like to see is more control over the page title. When I go in different tabs the page title is always same. 1.3 1.3 1.3 1.3 1.3 1.3

Jason, can you paste 2 examples please how it looks with a vanity URL (skip the domain if you don't want to post it) - e.g a profile and a profile with the Info tab or something selected (I want to see if the vanity URL might solve my dilemma)

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
Rodney, you need to take a look at the profile. You don't have to convince on what you want to do. You can do whatever you want, the cability is already in place. Think of the profile view as blank ascx file and do what you want.

RE: SEO/URL structure for Groups/Users and consequences in indexing
Ok (for the record, I didn’t say you did – we really need to lose the word AJAX!). All I am saying is that IF profiles are broken up into multiple URLs (by whatever means) – I personally think this will negatively affect SEO. If this is the case I n ...

Posted By Will M on 30 Oct 2009 09:27 PM   If you choose to enable ajax tabs or preloaded, you will still only have one URL. So this is what is confusing me - on AS it looks like multiple URLs but you say it is not?
