With that said, I would recommend digArticle at www.dignuke.com for a blog / article / news publishing platform. Mike is doing a great job there and has already done quite a bit of AS integration.

Originally it was supposed to make ActiveForums blog theme a youple of years ago. But it is ok if no. I am ready to use third party modules if ActiveSocial won't support blog feature. I think they won't since they are the part of DNN Corp. now which has own quite poor blog module. It would be lovely to get some comments on blog feature from Will Morgenweck.

Cliff, why do you prefer digArticle over Sunblog?

And I want to correct my list of features for ActiveSocial in case there won't be Blog inside:

1) embed forum karma into Active Forums
2) embed possibility to add functions to ActiveSocial profile tabs and toolbar (so we can add blogs, video and etc. easily)
3) embed possiblity to hide links inside Active Forum posts for unauthorised users like it done in PHPBB, VBulletin etc. so it will improve forums' positions for crawlers

I would like some feedback on the features you would like to see in Active Social 2.0.  This will not be a large feature release, but we do have some time to add a couple nice features.  I would like to have this release complete before the end of July.  Please only select 3 features from the list.  I understand you may want all of them, but checking all isn't really going to help speed things along.  Keep in mind the big release will in Q4 of this year.

just testing this out

The focus for DotNetNuke 6.1 is on mobile. DotNetNuke 6.2 will focus on social integration and is planned for early 2012. Right now my team is working on finishing up the new forum module. We are still planning to have an Active Social release before the end of the year, hopefully in November.
Any updates on an interim AS release with these top voted feature this year?

@will :

IMO, I would like to see a bit of goodwill on your part by giving us paying members an extension on our maintenance until AS/AF is finally released as part of DNN Core.

IIRC, we haven't seen a release in almost a year as it is and it's likely we may not see another release anyways, so maybe it's just a token gesture, but a good one nonetheless.

Am I the only one who is surprise to see Will's answer to this question!??

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community...d/108.aspx

So to Summarize the BAD NEWS:

"Active Social core integration will be available in DotNetNuke 6.2, which is scheduled for late Q2 this year"

The problem at this point is that I lost trust in any new updates regarding the expected release. We will probably learn in late Q2 that the release was pushed to late Q4 of 2012 or maybe even 2013.

I sincerely think that Active Social should compensate the community by offering the old Active Social 1.93 for FREE INCLUDING THE SOURCE, so that we will be free to develop whatever we want without the restriction posed by the highly protected code.

Enough promises!

Food for thought Will.
