A lot of great stuff happening lately with Active Modules and DotNetNuke. Here is a quick recap in case you have been on vacation or been out of touch for the past month.
DotNetNuke 5.5 Release
On August 18th, DotNetNuke Corporation released DotNetNuke 5.5. While there isn't a long list of new features, there is definitely fantastic list of fixes and minor improvements. As many of our customers know, I have been more supportive of DNN 4.9.5 rather than any of the DNN 5.x releases. Well, that has now changed. DotNetNuke 5.5 is now my favorite release. There are several factors that have made me change my mind, but the most important is performance. I do think 4.9.5 has a smaller footprint, but it's time to move forward. DotNetNuke 5.5 is stable, quick and has many new features that easily make it my favorite DotNetNuke release to date.

Frowser won the DotNetNuke Mobile Hackathon
The St. Louis DNN User Group hosted the DotNetNuke Mobile Hackathon last month. For those of you not familiar with Hackathons, think of it as development contest. This was the third DNN Hackathon and I think it was a huge success. Each of these hackathons have been ways to introduce something new to DotNetNuke. This is a tremendous benefit for the entire DNN Community. You have DNN Experts sharing knowledge on a particular subject then developers take that knowledge and apply it to DotNetNuke. This stimulates creativity in areas that many might not have even considered before. Thanks to everyone that voted and stay tuned for what is next for Frowser!

Chicago Day of DotNetNuke - October 2, 2010
The long awaited Day of DotNetNuke is just a couple weeks away. This is going to be a great event. My sessions are "Building a Site with DotNetNuke the Right Way" and "Building Social Communities with DotNetNuke". Did I mention that Day of DotNetNuke events are free? An entire day of learning and networking with DNN experts and other community members. Hope to see you there!
