I have tried all kind of hack buch was not able to achive actieve ta style to journal tools. Can anyone please help?

What are you trying to accomplish? They can be changed with pure css for the most part.

For now just say I want white background. I added this to my theme module.css
div.amsocial .asjournaltools #asjournaltools a:hover{background-color:white}(Taken from AS Theme)
div.amsocial .asjournaltools #asjournaltools a:active{background-color:white} (Added by me)

Active is not the same as selected. You want the icon to appear as selected, which isn't possible right now.

The a:active is not going to do anything, but the hover works for me.
