Wondering if it's feasible to have a tag which would allow us to assign an additional image based on role.

    eg something like

    [SITEROLE:Administrators;Awesome Users][/SITEROLE]

So it would only display for those users. I've seen the role tag in AF and it looks like it just returns text of all roles at the moment?

From what I know, it is only text based. But, as a workaround, you can currently use the AF ranking system.

    Have a look here: http://www.activemodules.com/Commun...fault.aspx

Yeah, I saw that and would prefer not to. The ability to have role-based avatars would be ideal, without affecting rankings.

DNN core actually did a fairly nice job of this.

    Hi Matt,
The problem using roles is that it creates extra database hits. Since you are also using Active Social, you can setup a custom profile property to handle it for you. The disadvantage to this method is that you must manually update the badges. For example, create a custom profile property that allows text called "Badges". Then add the html for the image you want displayed for that particular user. The last step is to update your Active Forums PostInfo template with the token for "Badges": [DNN:PROFILE:Badges]

Actually, I quite like that as a solution - I'll give it a try, thanks Will :-)

I would set up those fields using the new read-only property option in AS 1.7

Do I need to modify the group view to be able to see the new property?

Have noted a couple of instances of options (eg. hidden, read-only) not saving; only played with it briefly though.

An oldy but a goody. I'm trying to make this work in AS 1.9.3 and AF 4.3 and no matter what I do the PostInfo template just shows:

    Private

    Here is what I've done:

Create a new profile property called Badge. It's of type image and visibility is set to All Users
From the AS CP updates it to "read only"
From the user manager (not AS edit profile) added an image to those new field for my admin account
Modified the PostInfo template in AF to include [DNN:Profile:Badge]

To make sure it wasn't an "image" thing...I repeated the steps for a new profile property called "level". Same steps only this was a text field. Same results....just shows Private in the forum below the other PostInfo stuff

    What am I missing here?
