Active Social provides a flexible system for creating and managing Custom Group Properties for your social groups. Several configuration options are available that are designed to make adding Custom Group Properties as easy as possible for any site. Custom Group Properties can be used in addition to the standard data fields that capture content for a group.
Settings for Group Properties
The various settings for configuring Group Properties can be accessed by using the link labeled
Settings for Group Properties located in the Groups section of the Active Social Control Panel. Several settings will be displayed once the
Settings for Group Properties has been selected. The various settings and options are defined below.

Enable Group Properties
|
Required - This is the first step to using Custom Group Properties with Social Groups. Selecting "Yes" will enable access to the other options and features for Custom Group Properties.

Group Defined Properties
|
Optional - Group Defined Properties allows site and group admins to create properties that are unique to a particular group. Group Defined Properties are additional properties that do not replace or affect Default Group Properties. Selecting "Yes" will enable Group Defined Properties for all groups and also display additional configuration options.

Maximum Properties Per Group
|
Optional - Leaving this field blank will allow groups to create an unlimited number of group properties. The maximum defined value allowed is 999. A value between 1 or 25 is recommended and should be sufficient for most configurations. NOTE: This is a default value that can be overridden for a particular group by the site admin.

Available Data Types
|
Required - Data Types are used to define the expected value of the property. Data Types also assist with validation and format of the property value. All available data types might not be necessary for a particular configuration. At least one data type must be selected when Group Defined Properties are enabled.
