I need to set up user links for Ventrian's  NA and PA users, with the vanity url turned on.

The user profile url looks like:  http://www.mysite.com/display-name

The link to the user profile I set up in PA/NA looks like:    http://www.mysite.com/[DISPLAYNAME]

It works ok if the display name does not have a space otherwise it wouldn't work.  Since the [DISPLAYNAME] does not change into display-name.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

This would have to be a change to the core, or a request sent to DNN to update the core. Are you using FirstName LastName as the displayname?

    Thanks for the reply goBlank.

When using vanity url AS turn the displayname into display-name when there is space in the name. If you check ActiveSocial.com for example, the url of a user's profile looks like "http://www.activesocial.com/users/someone" when the user display name is "someone", or "http://www.activesocial.com/users/some-one" when the user display name is "some one" (notice the space in between).

So when I creating a link to the author's profile page from Ventrian's NA or PA, the url should look like this "http://www.mysite.com/[DISPLAYNAME]", but this link can only handle the display names that have no space in between.

I need to link users from all sorts of places on the site, the NA articles, PA posts, comments, etc, with links to their profiles. But I can not do this with vanity url turned on.

By doing that, will we be able to do away with displayname? Or can we keep our current configs and make vanity url still tied to displayname but not visible or changeable by users? I still want to keep vanity names tied to firstname lastname.

I can see how this will definitely take care of the problem with other modules whereas most of them support profile properties.
    Cheers! Jeff

Will, can you please add this profile property in the coming AS1.6 version? I really needed to get the vanity urls ready before doing some serious site promotion. Even though the vanity urls would work, the site has links to user's profile from everywhere so we need to make sure this one would work also before start using vanity urls.

    Thanks.
