    What I have:

    Custom Theme
    - Folder: Profile
    - - file: journal.ascx
    - Folder: Other
    - - file: journalsummary.ascx
    - - file: journaltools.ascx

Issue: I can make all the changes I want to journal.ascx and the changes do not apply. I've restarted my app, IIS and the server, cleared cache, done everything I could think of. Went back to the control panel, reverted back to the default theme, saved. Then applied my custom theme and saved again, but changes still do not take effect.

All other template files I've edited have properly changed. What I'm specifically targeting is the journal < itemstemplate>

    Is this template editable?

    Cheers! Jeff

Take a look in the customization forum and you will see some topics about this. The templates for the journal are in the database and not intended to be modified at this point.

I noticed the AS 1.7 release has this new file "journaltemplates.config"

Does this mean that journal templates can now be changed? And can the file be copied to the portal directory like the profileviewtabs.config and groupviewtabs.config with the same results?
    Cheers! Jeff

I've also noticed in that file, presumably:

    mode 0 = profile
    mode 1 = group
    mode 2 = site

    for the different templates.

If this is the case. Way TOO COOL!. I've actually changed all my templates in the DB in the previous version, but created 2 seperate, dated files for the default templates and also for my custom templates in knowing they would get overwritten on update.
    Cheers! Jeff

    Officially, No. Possible, Yes.

Not yet, but we are getting closer.

Thanks. There will be a couple other modes designed for mobile support very shortly. We want to have support for mods to the journal templates just like regular templates. Meaning, if you only want to change the way group status messages look you don't have to copy the entire file. Once we have this worked out you will be able to add and edit journal templates in the control panel.

I've recently added the comment controls to the "photo" templates that get displayed in the journal when a user posts a photo using the journal tools. Seems comments can be added and viewed at site, group, or profile journals and are shown across all views correctly.

Comments posted at the journal don't show in photo comments under the gallery, which is fine. But I just wanted to make sure I'm not jumping the gun and will cause issues further down the road with implimenting comments at the journal level for photos. I'm still testing.

    Thoughts?
    Cheers! Jeff

This should really be in the customization forum. We didn't include comments on journal photos for a reason. You will end up with comments for the same photo in two different locations. We would like to eventually merge both, but when a journal entry can display multiple photos and the comment is tied to the journal entry, not photo...it becomes difficult.
