    Hi,

I've done and read everything I can think of and find, but am stuck on one final issue. I simply cannot configure AS/AF so that members can post topics.

AS is configured to create a forum when a group is created and I have created one group.
The matching forum thread was created automatically.
The forum security indicates that the default SocialGroup_Member role is allowed to create posts etc.
The test account I created was successfully assigned that role.
The test account belongs to the group that owns the forum thread.
The test account can see the discussion thread but is "not authorized to create a new topic"
However, the administrator can create threads without trouble.

I have exhausted all the options and docs I can find, but I can't get this bit working.

    Any ideas are appreciated,
    Rob

Well, it sounds like the problem is in the Forum Permissions.  Could you post a screenshot of your permissions menu for that forum?

    Thanks for the reply Dan

I'll post screenshots of all pages here. The links open in new windows.

I have been using DNN and even AF for several years and am pretty well familiar with everything, so I'm quite stuck with this now. I'm trying to keep everything as simple as possible during this setup just to get it working without anything else potentially messing it up.

    Thanks for any further advice,
    Rob

SocialGroup_Member and SocialGroup_Admin are never to be used on an actual group. Also, you have unique role turned off. Forums will not work work unless this is enabled.

Active Social uses SocialGroup_Member and SocialGroup_Admin as a template for permissions when creating new forums. Do not use those roles for anything else. Do not assign members to those those roles.
