I'm trying my best to figure out how to emulate activesocial.com's category list with groups.  I've found a way to assign type's but that doesn't seem to be the same as categories.  I'd like to be able to group my categories like you have on

    http://www.activesocial.com/groups.aspx

    So for the questions:

    1) Is the category list on the left a control you built or hand coded HTML.

    2) How can you assign a group a category?  I only see the options for a "type" in the group settings and don't see a way to filter based on it.

I just posted the custom view that we are using on ActiveSocial.com to generate the categories list.

How can you assign a group a category?

After you create the categories using the Category Manger (Control Panel > Design > Category Manager) you will be able to assign categories to groups under the groups details view in the control panel. A list of categories will be displayed. Just click on the category on the left side and it will appear on the right. Make sure you click save when you are done.

We have just upgraded to v 1.4.1 and were experiencing a 'frozen' Control Panel environment when we clicked on the Feed manager button. Eventually this frozen environment 'thawed'....
But we're experiencing the same situation when we click on 'Add Category' - the page fades from colour to grey..and the 'Add Category' box is launched, but then the environment freezes and we are unable to input information in to the box. We are forced to click on the 'back' button to exit the Control Panel.

What's the score...? How do we resolve this? Is anyone else experiencing this?

    All the best,

    Pete

I have this same problem on many of the control panel pop up dialogs. I have only been able to resolve this by changing temporarily to the Minimalist skin or making the change directly in the database (not a great practice).

I use the Bind Puure and Gloss skins which they say are 100% W3C CSS/XHMTL1.0 compliant, but the general feedback from AM so far has been that these are skin issues. So I either temporarily change the skin or make changes directly in the database. Not happy with either solution, but it works.

Sometimes a switch to a different brower will also get it working again.

We are not sure what causes the problem with the Puure Skin, but we do have a copy and will try to have it resolved in a future release.
