Active Social Login & SignUp Setup Guide

Setting Up the Active Social Login & Sign-Up Views

This guide assumes that you have already set up your site using the Getting Started guide. This guide is for sites that are using Public registration. There is a separate guide for Verified registration, and Private registration is currently not supported by the Sign-Up view.

  1. Just to make sure, please access the Admin -> Site Settings menu. Expand the Advanced Settings and make sure that User Registration is set to Public.
  2. Create a new page to contain your Sign-Up view. I named this page Sign-Up. You should not put anything on this page besides the Sign-Up wizard.
  3. Navigate to the Sign-Up page.
  4. Add an instance of the Active Social module to the page.
  5. Select Sign-Up from the list of views. Click Save, then click Next.
  6. You can now see the Sign-Up wizard.
  7. Create a new page to contain your Login view. You can put the Login module on any page you want, but it is a good idea to also have a page specifically for this purpose.
  8. Add an instance of the Active Social module to the Login page.
  9. Select Login from the list of views. Click Save, then click Next.
  10. Add the DNN login module to the page. There are certain version of DNN that require this module to be present on the page.
  11. Since we do not need both login modules visible, access the module settings for the DNN Account Login module.
  12. Change the view permissions so that it is only visible to Administrators. When you view the page as a Registered User, you will only see the Active Social login view.
  13. Go to Admin -> Site Settings and expand the Advanced Settings section. Set up your pages as follows:
    • Splash Page: Optional.
    • Home Page: Optional.
    • Login Page: Set this to the page you put the Login module on.
    • User Page: Set this to the Sign-Up page. A user will be automatically directed to this page upon logging in. However if they are logged in, it will then direct them to their profile page.
  14. Click Update. Then return to you Login page.
  15. Logout and test the login feature.
  16. The sign up button should take you to the Sign-Up page.
  17. If you use this to login as an Administrator, it will take you to the Sign-Up view, not to you profile. If you login as a Registered User it should take you to your profile.
