Will,
I'm not an Active Purchase customer yet, but I've been considering it for a while (currently using Ventrian Subscriptions). It's possible that all of the functionality I need is already in AP. I'm note really sure.
These are the things things that would be useful for me in conjunction with AF/AS
1) The ability for a user to pay for "MemberShip" to a site. This would give the users the ability to automatically pay and be put into a role for a given period of time (this is what I use Ventrian for today).
2) The ability to use simple PayPay rather than having to pay for all the stuff required for other Gateways.
3) The ability for a user to RSVP for an event with Payment (when required).
4) The ability to do "one off" payments for various things (in our case, group buys, etc).
As always, thanks for listening and for all of your hard work.

Good questions.

Yes. Current version.
2) The ability to use simple PayPay rather than having to pay for all the stuff required for other Gateways.
No. Right now we only support Authorize.Net and PayPal.
3) The ability for a user to RSVP for an event with Payment (when required).
Not yet, but that is planned.
4) The ability to do "one off" payments for various things (in our case, group buys, etc).
Yes - Current version.

I am looking forward to this release as well. I'm going to be adding in a portal soon that will require e-commerce, and would prefer staying with Active Modules.

Will,
Item 2 is an important to us for the simple reason that we (as a small club) can't justify all of the expenses associated with those gateways. This is one thing really nice about Ventrian in that their simple PayPal support works flawlessly.
There are a couple of other things I should mention.
1) The ability to send out a "Would you like to resubscribe" message a week or two before the users membership runs out (preferably automatically). This is another item that Ventrian does well.
2) The ability to manually add a member (for example, if they joined our club by paying in cash at one of our events) and still have the user get the properly email notifications, etc when their membership expires. This is an item that our current version of Ventrian does not handle at all (though they may have added that in more recent versions).
I'm not trying to pump up Ventrian here, but rather see what it would take to get to an "All Active Modules" solution which is really where I'd like to take us... I agree that the kind of tight integration you were talking about is greaty.

Sounds good Will... I don't know if you have seen the membership tiers on PokerDIY but I currently use Ventrian Subscriptions...

Just to be clear. You initially said
PayPay
. If you meant PayPal then great, because we already handle it.

We have been testing this internally for about 6 months now. You can create reminder intervals and choose the template to send. For example, we are using 60 days, 30 days and expiration day.

This is already possible as well.

While we're on a feature summary, is there support for subscription trial/demo periods?

Sure. That is nothing more than another subscription product, but with a price of 0.

This kinda hurts
because I have been asking for this feature for nearly half a year and now my subscription has ended and I let it pass since I didn't know what route you would be taking the product. I like what you have been describing so looking forward for the ETA and feature list.
Thanks for the update Will.

re: "PayPay"
Sorry, fat fingers... So, just to be entirely clear, you are saying that AP already supports the FREE version of PayPal right?
PayPal also has there expensive "PayFlow" gateway products and I don't have any interest in those.
If so, It sounds like once you get the expiration notification feature released, there will be no reason for us to not switch to AP.

You can manually add receipts in Ventrian.. I do it all the time.. I have people mailing checks and stuff.. They have to have an account already tho.. If they don't even have an account, you have to manually create it.
My 1 big wish, is the ability to sell my optional upgraded membership during the signup process. I have yet to find a module that accomplishes this to my satisfaction. If will and his team can get it done, they'll get even more of my DNN module dollars..

I will have a need to do things manually as well, since our clients will be paying via electronic transfer and direct payments, but would like to provide them a way to see their history. Some clients will need the ability for AP, so I would like to tie everything together.

Really excited to see the planned road ahead for AP + the Social CRM thoughts - even more excited for a roadmap.
Regarding "We have yet to come across an implementation request that required source code. ", I hope you can you give some pointers on how to fix the 2 below functionalities without source access?
1) Filtering the members list according to criterias from our apps (progress %, score, rank, activity rate, etc.). We know how to add these elements into the member's list, but not how to filter them. For us, searching for other people by the alphabet is irrelevant. Searching according to your preferred games, score, activtiy types, rank, interests, etc .... that is relevant. So, any pointer how this can be done without the source? Right now, we are considering recreating the whole members list with these criterias and have the AS members list as one of the filters. Any other solution without creating our own members list?
2) Injecting our app/game results into the profile journal + site summary with filter options. I've seen suggestions on doing this via RSS. We tried this out on the profile journal through the backend, and that worked fine, but without any filter options. Your thoughts on the best approach?
To what degree can we use the API for these questions?

Currently you would need to create your own members list control to load in Active Social. However, we will have a release next week with a major update to the members list which will allow better control over filtering, sorting and searching.

The Journal API should be fully documented next week.
