One of the most exciting things in 1.3 for me was being able to have groups in categories. Unfortunately, I can't get anything to happen with them. When I go to the Design tab, then Categories and try to add a category it pops up the add box but after saving nothing happens. Has anyone been able to get them to work? Am I missing something? |

Thanks Will! Any estimate when 1.3.1 will be available? |

I am using 1.3.2 and I have added in categories, but I cannot get them to appear like they do on active social. I checked the theme guide, and cannot find anything on them. How can I get the categories to appear on the GROUP LIST page? |

Okay, now how would I filter the group list by category? I'm guessing a custom view is in order, based of the GroupsList.ascx control. I'm just not sure how to filter the return grid. |

It's actually much easier. ActiveSocial.com has a custom view called CategoriesList. The only thing in the custom view is the Categories token. On the groups page we have the GroupsList in the content pane and the categories custom view in the left pane. This way you don't have to modify any templates. |

Well, let me explain what I am trying to do. My client wants to be able to have two different types of groups (categories, yay!) and have separate menu links to each group list. What I figured when I saw there would be categories in 1.3.0 was that you would be able to drop a module on a page, assign the default view to groups list and then in the settings for that group list you would be able to filter the results to that list per category. Having a category list which you then use to filter the groups list on the same page will not work for me unfortunately. Is there a way to see the code for your custom views on activesocial.com? |

Ok...see if we are getting closer. Here is a page I just created, using a custom view, still using the default groupslist template, but filtered by all groups in the DotNetNuke category. http://www.activesocial.com/DotNetN...roups.aspx |

I did notice that "ALL" and Search will take you back to the main groups list, but that can be changed for the next update. Here is the code for the custom view. Remove the space between "ru" "nat" Just create a custom view for each category list and add it to the view. |

Quick question, is there a place where I can see what options/properties each control has? Like with this active:groupslist you just added the CategoryId="2", I assume that is a property that can be set. I'm guessing it's in one of the user manuals and I just missed it. |

I suppose firing up visual studio and let intellisense tell you, does not work. However, I happily stand corrected.

Peter, are you saying it will or will not work? I tried opening the site through VS and there was not a property for CategoryID. |

Can someone please tell how do you even add a group to a category? I do not see any documentation on this. |

Create the categories in the control panel Design > Categories Go to the Group Section of the control panel. Click on a Group to Edit. Click on the name of the category you want to add to the group. Click Save. |

I'm sorry. But I don't see Categories section in my group details. But I remember, I have seen it probably in 1.3.2 ? Is that possible? |

I investigated, that in my cp_groupsdetail.ascx (v. 1.3.3) this section is hidden:
div class="amcpoption" id="divCategories" style="display:none;"> div class="amcpoptionhd">[RESX:Categories]
When I deleted style="display:none;" - I saw "Categories" again, but when I selected one, and saved - nothing changed.

Ok., I found the reason: I have in database a category which was a parent to itself. That caused hidden "categories" and other problems.... |

Thanks Will, I looked everywhere but the design tab in control panel. This will work for now for my organization needs. |

Where did you find this? In the current Active Social Theme Guide (
1.2.23 ) there is no such token. Is there a later version of this
document? If so, where is it? |
