Active Social Development Update

I believe I mentioned last week that we have been going through all aspects of Active Social to clean-up and make sure everything works as it should.  My little project last week was the Gallery.  No other way to put it, the gallery could really make a mess with extra files, default albums, mixing profile galleries with group galleries, loading items from the journal, etc.  Now add in Amazon S3 integration and the problems would just multiply.  While you won't see any major changes to the gallery, your file structure and end users will see some improvements. 

We are now in the final stages of testing to get this release out the door.  I'm not going to say it will be released tomorrow, but I will say you can expect another update tomorrow. 

We are now officially behind schedule on Active Forums 5.0.   We are still not far off, but it will not be this week.  I will post more about Active Forums 5.0 on Thursday.

I just wanted to get two clarifications on this post. First is if the Gallery update includes videos. Second is if the AF 5.0 update and the AS 1.2 update are tied together for release. If not, can you confirm that AS 1.2 includes a fully functioning Events system.

No. Active Forums 5 will require Active Social 1.2, but Active Social 1.2 will work just fine with Active Forums 4.1.16.

If not, can you confirm that AS 1.2 includes a fully functioning Events system.

I'm not going to say yes to "fully functioning Events" system because that can of course be subjective. The first release of Active Social Events is modeled very closely after Facebook events. Users will be able to create events, invite other users, track RSVP status, send reminders and link to a group. There are various different views available for listing Events. I'm sure it is not going to be perfect for everyone, but it's also the first pass and we already have features ready to follow within the next 30-days.
