I was wondering if anyone of you can help me with one of my AS website. I will pay for your services, if they are reasonable. I really need help with creating the home page.

Also, can anyone please tell me what modules can be integrated with AS and the website? I have been looking at ning.com lately and I think I would like something that for my website.

I am also thinking of buying Flex 2. Should I buy the blue color or we get all colors in one purchase? Can we make easymode available to the end user?

Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations.

    Thank you all.

I am using the latest AS/AF/DNN available.
    Thanks.

    Here are a few answers.

Flex2 standard purchase comes with a variety of colors in one shade. If you purchase the Blue version you will get a variety of shades of blue. Same for other colors. The links on Snowcovered do link to the different one site for all colors and separate sites for the single color shade variations.

Not sure if you can make EasyMod available to end users. I can test that out. But EasyMod requires a key to run. So you have to have a key for every skin on which you use EasyMod.

Here are some modules that integrate on userid.
Ventrian News Articles, Property Agent and Scott has a task to add a module to allow filtering on the Feedback module.

    BizModules UMG, UVG

FatGeorge has a good solution for Member and Group Mapping that uses another map module.
FatGeorge also has a great Users Online that is upgraded to track Friends Online, etc.

I am sure there are lots more. My goal is to use Core AS as much as possible and be very careful on 3rd party modules. I probably will not use the BizModules on sites where end users are adding photos and videos. I will stick with Core stuff since it is more straightforward (assuming the video will be out soon). For AS sites that are training related where I will be the one doing videos for members I will probably use UVG to get the added functionality.

I wish I could help, but right now I am too tied up on current projects.

    Thank you, Cliff.

One more Q. Is Flex2 the only skin that integrates with AS?
I am using the latest AS/AF/DNN available.
    Thanks.

I definitely would not say that Flex 2 is the only skin to work with AS. My understanding is that the skin needs to be xhtml compliant for the existing AS themes. But I remember AM saying that they would try to provide an AS theme for non-xhtml compliant skins. Not sure of the status on that. Maybe Ben can chime in on this subject.

    Cliff / Frozen,

I am using both the Flex2 and Gloss skin on my Active Social sites. The big advantage of Flex2 is the fact that James is providing the adjustments to integrate the AS welcome center nicely in the skin. However, the Gloss is containing the rightclick functionality on the menu (open in new tab) and really hope that James of DrNuke will incorporate this in the Flex2 skin.

    Thank you, Cliff.

One more Q. Is Flex2 the only skin that integrates with AS?

You can use almost any skin with AS if you want...  If it is XHTML compliant, then you can use the advanced themes, but you can use the default theme also, which will work with a standard HTML skin.

I've created several skins myself with the Message Center integrated, and have modded a few of the free skins also...

But, I am certainly not a graphics designer, and the quality of my skins pale in comparison to something like the Flex2.

I am sorry. I should be been more direct and clear. I was wondering whether there is a skin that matches the AS color/design? So the AS module feels like it's part of the skin.
I am using the latest AS/AF/DNN available.
    Thanks.

    Hi there!

I noticed this thread and thought it might help to clarify a few things and answer any other questions.
Flex2 standard purchase comes with a variety of colors in one shade. If you purchase the Blue version you will get a variety of shades of blue. Same for other colors. The links on Snowcovered do link to the different one site for all colors and separate sites for the single color shade variations.
    This isn't quite correct...

Flex (original) comes in 8 colours. If you purchase Flex you get ALL eight colours. We don't though recommend Flex when using Active Social as from our experience this module requires an XHTML skin.

Flex2 uses a different system and the colour is not fixed, you specify it yourself using the EasyMod module. So you have a choice of 16.7 million colours . Flex2 is an XHTML skin and from feedback seems to work well with Active Social.

We have worked with a customer to integrate the message center into the skin and the edits can currently be obtained on request.

The EasyMod module supplied with Flex2 is intended for the site Admin or Host to use to customise the skin. It's not intended for the viewer of the site. You may end up with an interesting colour scheme for your site if this were possible .

Please let me know if we can help with anything else.

    Regards

    James

We have an updated version of the Flex2 edits which work with Flex2 2.00.04. This pack has new icons which fit better with the skin appearance.

We also have code available for Catalyst2 if anyone would like to try it out

Email me you invoice ID and we'll get the code to you.
