Perhaps this is already a feature but I am not seeing it. Could there be a token to include the poster's profile picture into the What's New module? I assume we could set the size ourselves in the configure template. This would make it more visually appealing and help draw people into the forums I think.

    Thanks,

    Will S

I would like to know too! I want to include the profile pic in the email templates along with the display name. I would also like to change the width and height of the profile pic. TY

I am using the latest AS/AF/DNN available.
    Thanks.

Did anyone figure this out yet? I played with the AF What's New template (adding [DNNROFILErofilePicture]) but could not get anything to work.

    thanks,

    Will S

Cool idea. An alternative might be to template Latest Posts with an image handler. If would require Will's team to create a handler where we can pass in a userid and retrieve the correct image:

So we could template something like this:

ok...tried to post some code example but that didn't post well.

Using a handler that we can template and pass in a userid opens up the possibilities to show user images with links to their profile in other (non AM) modules too...blogs, news articles, classifieds, videos, etc.)

Anything with a templating engine and the ability to inseert userid would then be able to take advantage of this.

Here is my code for template in What's New. Exactly what would I add and where to include the profile picture to the left of the displayed item?

    thanks,

    Will

Thanks, I was able to figure this out once I uploaded the file and followed advice from those in that post.

I followed what you had posted, and this is what I have in my WHATS NEW module TEMPLATE area.

[SUBJECTLINK] by [AUTHORDISPLAYNAME] in [FORUMNAME]: "[BODY:50]..."

My page that I have set up for my profile is named: Profile

The tabid for this page is: 62

I have the ProfileImageHandler.ashx in the /portals/0 directory, and it has the correct permissions.

For some reason I am not able to see any images.

My settings for active social are

    Mini: 24 x 24
    Small: 75 x 75
    Medium: 150 x 150
    Large: 350 x 350

When I am on my profile page and I look at my profile picture I have this:

    http://www.yokosukabase.com/Portals/0/activesocial/profiles/_icons/pp_2_120_120.png?633803567115974036

I am using the active theme, and I have changed that within the profileimagehandler.ashx

I dont know what else to try.

I am just trying to get an image to appear next to the post on the WHATS NEW MODULE for the active forums.

    Hi Adam,

I assume you cut and paste what I had posted, then replaced my website info and tab with yours? If you have, and posted Chris's file, then I am not sure what to tell you. I did not edit his file. Perhaps Steven could chime in?

    thanks,

    Will

    Adam,
See the attached code. Make sure you replace the www.yoursite.com with your site address...as well as the correct tabid.

Also, make sure you include an image side in your url for the image handler. This needs to match a size on your AS control panel. The example assumes a 50 x 50 profile photo.

    That creates this look:

    WhatsNewwithProfileImages.txt

    Steven,

I noticed the problem if you look at http://www.yokosukabase.com

It is due to Infinity URL rewriter.

When I turn this off, my pictures appear.

Is there a rule I need to write that can avoid URL rewriter to recognize the correct path?

Hmmm. I've been working on another site that has had issues rendering profile images with iFinity installed. You might want to check with them to see about excluding calls to the image handler. I'm still learning iFinity so I'm not exactly sure how to handle this.

    Thanks. I will contact them.

This is what I see on the site:
    http://www.yokosukabase.com/Profile...fault.aspx

It has on my homepage (left) side, the links for the whats new, but its not pulling the graphics correctly.
In this case, it actually still goes to the correct profile, but the graphic is not displaying correctly.

    This is the graphic URL:
    http://www.yokosukabase.com/portals...imgsize=24

My tabid where the profiles are: 62

I would only use these 2 sizes for the graphics: both are set in setting on active social
    24x24, 75x75

When I turned off infinity, both of them worked. When i set it again, they stopped working, so I know it has something to do with the URL rules..

I have contacted Infinity about my profile image problem not working when Infinity URL rewriter is applied. If I turn it off, the images appear. Hopefully they have a solution to fix my problem.

I still have not gotten this to work.

Infinity never wrote me back, but I know it has to do with the URL rewriting.

Has anyone else had any issues with this?

I want to implement the Whats New with the profile pic, but I have to turn the URL re-writing off to do it..
I dont want to lose the functionality in my URL's..

If someone knows how, please let me know.

Steven, I have been playing with your template today. Everything works great except for the image. In efforts to find the correct path for the image I set out to find the location of the ProfileImageHandler.ashx with no avail... portals/0/ProfileImageHandler.ashx does not exsist on my installation.

Can you please advise the correct path for the images in the template.

    ht tp:// www. yoursite .com/ portals/0/ProfileImageHandler.ashx ?asuid=[ AUTHORID ]& asimgsize=50" border ="0" align= "left">

    Thanks

Duane, that code is not part of the core AS (yet). I wrote the original and others have improved it. If you search this forum for "profile image handler" you should find the thread on what to do (installation files and instructions)
