I am not sure about everyone else, but this makes more sense to me and gives people the opportunity to jump on board with an immediate discount if they purchase the two products before Friday.

Thanks for this fair and simpler policy.

Can't wait!

Agreed. I jumped on board before the revised post, as my anticipation got the best of me! :-) I am very much looking forward to the release.

Thanks guys. We really didn't change any pricing or upgrade terms, just tried to explain it a little more clearly. Thanks for being so patient.

Let's make sure that I understand this correctly. I have en AF enterprise license for 3.7. I'm more than 30 days past the expiration of the support. Until Feb 15, I have the option of purchasing an upgrade to AS for $289. Is that correct?

I'm not sure if this was all that fair. I have yet to see a demo of the product yet, it's too late for me to take advantage of the deal. It would have been different if we could have seen AS in action and then we could have made a decision to buy the product by the date. I did not see anything about the date restriction until now.

I think you have misunderstood the purpose of that particular upgrade path. It's not any kind of special, sale or incentive. It's something we felt we needed to do. We were actually trying to be fair to our customers that have already made an investment in our products. We wanted them to know we appreciate their support and patience. Keep in mind that Active Social includes Active Forums Enterprise. I think it would have been less fair to tell our customers that already have Active Profile and Active Forums Enterprise that they will need to pay an upgrade fee.

I have AF Ent and AP, so I assume that I will get a free upgrade to AS.

I also have another AF Standard. Is there a way to upgrade that to AF Ent and then purchase AP so that I can get an additional AS free upgrade?

Are you still honoring the AS license offered for beta program participants?

I can use at least three licenses right now for ongoing projects. So thanks for your consideration in this matter.

No emails from Mollie. I checked spam folders for yesterday and today.

I replied to the email that I got from your post on this thread, since I am tracking this thread. I sent my reply to sales at activemodules.com.

Did you get that email from me? You can call me if needed at the toll free number listed at the top of my eComm site. http://www.uncommongames.com/

My site is built on DNN and ASPDotNetStorefront's ML/DNN cart.

I receieved your e-mails. I have been corresponding with other customers through the same e-mail. I don't know why it's not going through. The information in the e-mail contains a few links regarding your upgrade that would be easier to transfer by e-mail. I'm going to try again shortly using another e-mail.

Is active forums enterprise included in Active Social? Or do I need to buy that aswell? I bought myProfile (before you bought it) a really long time ago, do I still get the 80$ discount?

I had decided I was going to buy ActiveProfile and ActiveForums Enterprise editions. Then I saw ActiveSocial mentioned on the site. I bought ActiveForums because I hoped to get a FREE upgrade, but that didn't happen and I'm not too bothered by that. I have waited for news on the upgrade paths, and heard nothing until I was poking around today on the site. So now I find out I must pay an additional $150, but if I had bought the other package (one day before now) which I wanted but waited on at $80 the upgrade would be FREE plus if I had just waited all together to get what I wanted It would of cost me the same but I would have not used up two months of the maintenence.

Why was the upgrade paths not sent out earlier to let loyal customers get the deal?

Ken,

If this makes you feel any better, the same exact thing happened to me. I have been waiting for two months for Active Social to come out and was told I would be emailed. I didn't receive the email, but was told that if I would have checked the site, all the information was there.

I felt I was a loyal customer after purchasing three Active Forum Modules, Active Profile and Active Messenger. Active Profile doesn't really work that well, so I waited.

Now I have to wait some more and really pretty frustrated, but so it goes.

Artfuldodger, Yes, you will receive an $80 coupon towards Active Social which also includes Active Forums Enterprise.

Ken,
I understand your concern. Please understand that this was never intended to be a "deal". It wasn't a promotion, sale or intended to be a special incentive. We have invested way too much to just give away Active Social. We put ourselves in a very difficult situation. We had many Enterprise customers buy copies of Active Profile shortly after we acquired the product from DNN Fusion. Many of those customers were disappointed that it wasn't the same caliber they have been accustom to with Active Forums. We assured those customers that we were making changes and when we did they would get a free upgrade. This started months ago. Without getting into the full details, we still haven't released a new version of Active Profile. Now bring Active Social into the mix. The same loyal customers that trusted us to deliver on an updated version of Active Profile were asking questions about Active Social. Many now wanted Active Social instead. When the question was asked months ago about an upgrade path I decided it would be free for those customers. Of course we didn't announce it, but every time it was asked in blog comments, the forums, email, phone or even at DotNetNuke OpenForce - I provided the same answer. If have you have Active Profile and Active Forums Enterprise you will get Active Social for free. We weren't hiding it.

We also ran several big sales in November and December. All products were 30% off. All customers were emailed about these promotions several times.

We struggled with upgrade options for several days before posting them in detail. The best deal really is for someone that bought Active Forums Enterprise within the past 30 or 60 days and chooses the license upgrade option for $289. You will have spent $538 and will get support and upgrades for Active Social AND Active Forums Enterprise for almost 2 years. If you had waited to buy Active Social you would have spent almost $800 for two years.

Keep in mind, that even those customers that receive the free upgrade today are still limited by their Active Forums Enterprise subscription. Once that expires they will still have to pay a fee to renew Active Social.

I don't think there is anything we could have done to keep all of our customers 100% happy, but we really have tried.

Andy, I have reviewed the emails you and Mollie have exchanged since Nov. 20th. I don't see how the same thing happened to you. You still don't have an Active Forums Enterprise license. I'm sending you an email shortly.

In a blog post on Nov. 18 I stated that any customer with Active Forums Enterprise and Active Profile would receive a free upgrade to Active Social.

Q: I already own Active Forums Enterprise and Active Profile. What is it going to cost me to upgrade?
A: If your Active Forums Enterprise license hasn't expired, then you will receive a free upgrade to Active Social.

21 Comments and over 1700 views. Hopefully that shows we were not trying to hide anything or failed to communicate that this was an upgrade option.
