Hi Will,

I am currently testing the combination of Active Profile & iFinity URL Master. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the use of the URL Master significantly improves the readabiltiy of the URL.

The url in my testing environment turns out to become like this: http://localhost/mydomain/members/pid/3.aspx

I know that the pid will be replaced by the much anticipated UserId in the upcomming release (cool).

There is a way to rewrite the url, if one has the ability to adjust IIS settings, to make a nice entrance to the url of the profile. However, I would also like to see the "3", from my example given above, being replace by either username or displayname (as long as it is not in use by another member).

Hopefully this can (still) make it into the next release. Thanks.
Regards,
Marc

Active Profile already has a built in feature which allows for a URL like http:www.mysite.com/myname.aspx

This can be setup if you have access to IIS config by reconfiguring the "404 page not found" to be redirected to "/desktopmodules/dnnfusion_myprofile/profilefind.aspx".

Or at least this feature worked in all prior versions to 1.5

goblanks,

That's true, but is used as an entrance point only. When you access the profile with the friendly url you are redirected to the page with all the parameters in the url (at least in my test environment).

I would like to see the friendly URL all the time.

Did I miss anything in the configuration??

Marc

Marc you both are correct, how are you configuring iFinity URL Master? I have purchased the module and all I could do is break everything!

Hi Duane,

I am currently testing the module and haven't purchased it (yet?!?). It is running on my test machine (DNN 484) on a copy of my live DNN installation. Tough choice to choose the right SEO product....

Will,

Is rewriting of the url an option which can make it into the AP 1.5 release?

Thanks in advance.

Marc

Hi Duane,

I had a problem with the profile images when looking at my members page. It only gave me an error in the event log and a red cross telling me that it was not working.

Bruce told me that I needed to change the \gif into \gif$ in the 'IgnorRegEx' field in the 'advanced regex settings' and this made the images reappear.

Hope this helps a bit.

Marc
