There has been a lot of talk about the group functionality in AF but it would be great to have it in AP as well.

This would be a profile which is moderated for accepting memberships (friends). I think it will be essential that such a profile is associated with a DNN membership role and that, when a user has been accepted to the group, a user automatically becomes a member of that associated membership role.

This opens up the door to user groups which have access to private forums, and all kinds of other functionality associated with that group. Setting up DNN roles and associating these roles with profiles will have to be done by a DNN admin, but the accepting of friends can be done by a user group moderator.
