I need to do a few things with Active Profile that may be unusual and any help would be greatly appreciated. Some of this may also be handy in the new version. I do have some programming experience and if any of this is possible with code changes then i can do that.

1: How can i disable people from adding a background image? Is there a way i can do this, even if it requires some code changes?

2: I need to change the text on all of the modules where it says "Edit" to something more user friendly. I am finding people do not know how to add their profile image and such. So this needs to be reworded and maybe even bolded.

3: I would also like to include an image upload in my initial registration. My problem is i do not know where the images are stored. Any info on this that would help?

4: For the friends list i would like to set this to name only, 1 column and have it so user cannot modify. Would this be possible?

5: members list module, is there any way to change the colors?

6: Can i set the size of the profile image to a larger size without each avatar on browse page becoming huge?

7: I would like to display info from "Personal" tab to the right of the profile image.

Any help with some of these things is greatly appreciated.

I'm with you on this one, I too wanted to change a few things in my install so I have made some customization.
1) I have browsed to the \Desktopmodules\ActiveProfile folder and basically edited every file to look for the one containing "background image". Then by trials & errors I have removed as much crap as needed.
2) Go to admin > languages > language editor and look for active profile. Same thing here, look for "edit" and change it to anything suitable. It supports HTML so you can link to a 32x32 icon which is more user friendly.
3) /Portals/0/MyProfileImageCache/
4) I don't know. Wait for next update ? :-)
5) Not sure. Check the language editor (see # 1)
6) this is modified in the configure module options. You set the size of the thumbnail once. I don't think you can have 2 different sizes. (see # 4)

Bear in mind that most of the changes I've made are not supported. Do it at your own risks. You can register to check the results at my site (www.volleybook.com) to get an idea. Or play it safe and wait a couple of weeks for an update. As soon as Active modules bought DNNFusion my profile, I've stopped messing around with it and decided to patiently wait for the new version.
