I would like to welcome all MyProfile and MyMessages customers to Active Modules.  Hopefully you have already read the announcement or you saw the information posted on DNNFusion.com.  I'm sure some of you will have questions or concerns.  If you don't find the answer you looking for below, please post a reply and I will gladly respond.

On May 26, 2008, Active Modules, Inc. acquired MyProfile and MyMessages from DNNFusion.  Each product has already been renamed and product listings on Snowcovered and the DotNetNuke Marketplace have been updated.  MyProfile is now Active Profile and MyMessages is now Active Messaging.

You can see that we have created a set of forums for each product.  Currently, all support requests should be posted in the Community Support forum.  Please do not use the Snowcovered help desk.

We have also setup a Downloads section that is accessible by clicking on our Community page then clicking on the Downloads icon.  We believe we have a complete customer list from the past year.  It will take us a few days to create accounts for customers that have not purchased from Active Modules previously and to set the appropriate permissions.

We have already begun working on an update for each product to address a few known issues and to improve usability in several areas.  Regardless of any changes that we make to the applications, we will ensure that upgrading doesn't cause any problems.

Active Profile and Active Messaging are key components of our social networking product strategy.  We encourage you to provide us with feedback, tell us what you don't like, tell us what you would like improved and we are always open to compliments.

Please let us know if you have questions.

Thanks,
Will

This is the best information in a very long time! As a former customer of myprofile I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do with the product!

If you can just fix some small things with myprofile, then all one really needs to have a complete social page is active modules + active messages + active profile.
LOVING IT!

Is there a demo site?

We are building a new demo site now.  This should be completed later next week.

Great news Will. I'm glad to see that ActiveModules is taking these products over. I agree the the combination of Profiles, Messaging and Forums is the missing link in Social Networking on DNN right now. I look forward to seeing what you do with this aquisition.

This is fantastic news! I have Active Forums and MyProfile, and I am very much looking forward to integration between the two modules, especially the ability to manage a single, seamless profile.

Congratulations on the acquisition, I think it is a great move, and great for the DNN community.

Hopefully this will provide a viable DNN alternative to out of the box social networking platforms, such as KickApps and others (see www.skinet.com).

I'm sure you guys have done your homework, but just as a reference, here's a list of the competitors out there.

DNN has many built-in and business advantages to most of these platforms, I chose it hoping something like this would come to fruition.

Great move!

Hi Will. I'm a MyProfile customer from DNNFusion. I bougth my MyProfile on May 5th last year with a 12 month subscripting. As you know there were no updates from Lucas until we heard from him in Feb this year, stating an update was coming and all MyProfile customers within the the past 12 months (counting from Feb 2007) would recieve this MyProfil update free of charge, as a courtesy for the lack of updates for so long.

Would you honour Lucas' commitment?
Thx,
/Jesper

I purchased MyProfile/MyMessages and a 12 month subscription back on 8/5/2007 and have high hopes for the first time since I bought the modules that you guys can turn these module into a real Dating/Community solution for the DNN community.

I was looking at other solutions, and even other platform because I was so disappointed with DNNFusions development and support of their software, but hearing this news I am comitted to sticking it out with you guys to see if you can build on the potential of these modules and find new and innovative features the DNN community has been lacking for so long.

I have already sent my Purchase info to the email posted earlier and look forward to hearing from you.

My biggest complaint about the module is it seems difficult to configure for the average user, who cannot seem to figure out how to add the profile pic using the small edit button. The seem to be able to add photos to their gallery with no problem, but fall short of providing the profile image displayed on the New Users, or Most viewed, etc. What seems easy access to upload the picture to us, has been confusion for many of my members over the last 10 months.

The other thing is the birthdate. The labeling confuses people the way it is displayed and probably should just read "Birth date" instead of Age/Date of Birth because people try to manually add their age instead of just adding their birthdate.

Please take a look at the email I sent you regarding feature set, and links to examples you could use to make this one of the hottest modules available for DNN.

I agree with your point , i kept getting the same feedback time and time again, how do you configure this how do you configue that.

It was very easy for my self and im sure many web developers but the average person really had difficulty building their profile, it was definitly a turn off for most of my site usrs.

Great product but not to user friendly for the average casual user.

I thought i would leave that feedback and experience with My Profile

I still do not have any access to download area etc. I sent my details in as requested but as far as I can see nothing has changed. My 12 month subscription is set to end on Aug 5th, and have not heard anything firm on when the next release would be available. Are you going to have something ready by then or am I and others going to be left out in the cold?

Concerned...
