I'm just finishing up development of the initial version of Active Compare.  The basic use for this module is to
build a comparison table without having to generate your own html.

All your data is controlled through the Control Panel.  Once the basic information has been entered you can
manage the comparison by generating your initial table.
Control Panel

Each value can be set by clicking the cell in which the value resides.  This fires an even that cycles through the
support values for the system and generates a new comparison table with the updated support value.
Comparison

Another nice feature in the table is a popup that shows extra comments you can enter about the features.
Feature Popup

Now these are all great features but the big piece of this that stands out is that it's all through AJAX.

Hi there,

I've just checked this out after seeing Will's announcement about it.

The one thing I notice missing from how I would want to use it, is a half-way feature icon. One often has a need to indicate that a feature is partly supported, or perhaps available as an optional addon.

Is this present in the module, or if not, is is something that is likely to be added in future?

Also, how is the module styled. Are the icons specified in the css or are they hard-coded?

Thanks for any info on this.

And further to what I've queried above,

I've just had another look at some of my own existing table and can see a need to be able to insert text in some fields.

The typical comparison would be:

This hosting account versus that hosting account:
Features:
PHP Yes No
ASP Yes Yes
MSSQL 200Mb 500Mb

Do you think it might be altered in future to allow this .. praps?
Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

It's very nice to check out the forums and see that I have some questions to answer finally so....

The one thing I notice missing from how I would want to use it, is a half-way feature icon. One often has a need to indicate that a feature is partly supported, or perhaps available as an optional addon.

In future releases this is a feature that will be added.

Also, how is the module styled. Are the icons specified in the css or are they hard-coded?
Right now these icons are hard coded into the module, however the plan is to add an icon management piece into the control panel for future releases.  In the documentation included with the module we explain the styles used and the image paths so you can substitute your own icons.

Thanks for the interest.

This is also another feature that we are planning to add in later releases so stay tuned for Active Compare updates.

Another feature that would be helpfull would be a signup or buy icon that will send the customer to the products signup/online store page similar to http://www.dotinfohosting.com/plans_linux.aspx.

Other handy features to implement:
    - Link to a demo of the feature,
    - Ability to highlight a feature (i.e. NEW!!)

Also the ability to skin or theme the module would be helpfull.

That's a perfect example of all the good bits I reckon.
